Road Trip, Glacier, Testy, Yellowstone

  • A weekend road trip to Testy Festy turned in to a week on the road...
Deener (aka Road Warrior Princess) and I were planning on going to
Testy and meeting up with Raywood on Thursday afternoon.... Well
Tuesday I just couldn't take it anymore. Called Deener and told her I
was on my way home to start the road trip early. Deener left work
early and we hit the road around 3pm. Hit a nasty thunder storm over
the pass.... Got into Post Falls Idaho around 8 pm... Hit the road
Wednesday am and headed to Glacier... Beautiful ride up and around
Flathead lake. Stopped in Kalispel and had lunch with my relatives
and then off to Glacier...Rode, The Road To The Sun. In the west side.
Up and over and around the eastside The sites were beautiful. Saw a
few goats and a couple deer, One a little closer then I wanted. The
Thunder headers must have let him know to get the %#$* outta my
way...... Thursday day morning we decided to ride the Eastside of
Flathead lake.... Great ride...... We met Raywood at the interchange
of I 93 and I 90. Hit the liquor store and off to Testy... We rolled
in around 8 pm got our camp set up and ready to party...... I was a
little disappointed in Testy... The little store had no ice, and very
little supplies. Not going to rain on our parade. Met some nice people
around are camp and they hooked us up with ice... Yip getting our
drink on now. There were a few vendors, biker apparel and food...Live
bands played out back. Thursday night the bar was packed. Up Friday
morning and off to Missoula.  Raywood used to be a Navy recruiter
there.  Raywood took us to the local greasy spoon and the food was
fantastic.... Off  to the store for some ice and what not. Back to
Testy around noon and NOTHING going on...One naked guy(fanny pak man)
was walking around taking some video.. It started to pick up around
4pm.... Met up with a friend that I hadn't seen in 20 years. What a
blast. About 5 pm I wasn't impressed with the 4-5 bus loads of collage
kids that came in from Missoula. A little bit different atmosphere
then I expected.... We party and listen to the band, ate some Bull
Testicles. Pretty good... Had a little altercation with a couple of
the security boys(collage kids) appearntly I was NOT allowed to have a
RED cup in the venue area... We walked back into the shadows and
Deener went into the bar to get some ice water(it came in the correct
color cup) The owner was working the bar and really wasn't happy with
Deener asking for ice water... We go our clear cups and back to
drinking... Lots of young kids there. So we called it and early even
around 1130-12...  Got up Saturday morning and Raywood was still
trying very hard to talk us into going to Sturgis with him.... Well
didn't have enough time So we decided to head down to West
Yellowstone.  Took I 90 down to the Cardwell exit, What a rockin
road... Twisty, curvy, right beside the river... Got into the KOA and
had camp setup by 8 pm. Deener and I had Buffalo steak for dinner. It
was  very good. We took the entire day to ride in Yellowstone. Very
nice. That place is so fun... got caught in a Thunder, lighting storm.
We got soaked.  Not have planed to go to Yellowstone and planning for
temps between 60-90 we had our lite sleeping bags (fleece) not really
that warn when it got down to 40 in the early morning. So being soaked
we decided we needed to upgrade to a cabin At the KOA. The only one
they had let not only had heat but also toilet, shower, 2 burner
stove, ect, We lived large for the night. Good night sleep, Hot shower
in the morning and Deener say's "hey w can ride straight threw to home
today, Can't we"   I said "sure you up for a 748 mile day". So we hit
the road, Taking it easy in the morning with all the wildlife in the
area...the scenery was off the hook. Sunrise coming up and clear blue
skies. Stop at Belgrade to get breakfast and were on I 90 west.
Following Deener and the Speedo reads 95 mph WTF......... We stop
later for fuel and I asked her "what up with the speed" She says "I'm
only going 10 over" I laughed and say" Ya 10 over 10 over" So we got
back on the road and making good time...  Around 1 pm mountain time
Deener takes an exit and no services. Her bike isn't running well,
Lost the Speedo and it's popping. So we take off up to a rest stop. We
are 40 west of Missoula was her bike quits...  Anyways, No pay phone,
Very little cell service, Had a lot of people stop and ask if they
could help. Called HOG. Took 2 hours to complete the call and give
them all the info. Lots of dropped calls. Montana Harley is off the
hook..... Can't say enough good about these guys. They rolled the bike
in straight off truck and got right on it. 40 minutes later and a new
battery we were on the road. Six hour delay, Not going to make it home
today... Stopped at the $50,000 bar. Had a nice dinner and rolled into
Post Falls ID for the night. Woke up for an easy 5 hour ride into
Buckley Wa. Warm weather and blue skies. We took a little detour and
went into Yakima and picked up some fresh fruit and rode over Mt.
Rainier home. 2369 miles. Not to bad for what started out as a little
less the a 1000 mile 4 day weekend. As far as Testy.... Myself and
Deener will more then likely wave as we roll on by.
