The Warrior died in battle,
his final thrust was true.
He shouted with his dying breath
“A pox and curse upon all of you!”
Then there was white light all ‘round,
his wounds were healed and a white robe
he wore. As he stepped forward
a voice asked him “Well, what is this?”
“A Warrior proud and strong sir.
I stand before you now, ‘tho truth be told
Twas the Other place I thought I’d be seeing.
Standing here now sir, seems kinda bold.”
Then God smiled and nodded his head,
“You have not doubted who I am?”
The fighter bowed his head and said
“Lord I seen some bad things I couldn’t understand”
“Why’d so many have to die? All the
children I saw, all across the lands
just seem to be a blur now. How could
I know that you held me in your hand?”
“I will say this, Lord I always asked
Your blessing as I went into a fight.
You knew that I was a man of war
and your blessings carried me many a night.”
The Good Lord smiled and said
“I have just the place for you.
You’ll recognize the job because you said
Before a battle, there’s something you would do.”
So Great Spirit set him to watch
over all the battles, small and large.
You could see him if you believe.
The only ones that do, see him with their Heart.
