    Celebrates 30th Anniversary

In the year 1995, a local biker legend, Willie, and his wife, Toni, opened the Broken Spoke Saloon at 276 Main St. Richmondville, NY. Sadly, Willie, who ran the bar, passed away a few years ago. But his memory lives on at the Broken Spoke Saloon, now run by his Daughter Vanessa and Grandson Tyler.

Willie was a Vietnam Veteran and so loved by the Community that the mayor of Richmondville Kevin Neary declared May 17 William "Willie" Newhoff day! The Broken Spoke Saloon celebrates his day each year and will be having a pig roast this year on Saturday May 17th.

They will also be holding the 3rd annual bike run "Operation Zero" on August 16th to raise money for veterans. Raising money for homeless veterans was Something Willie did all year every year. They also hold an annual chili contest in October to raise money for homeless Veterans, keeping his mission and memory alive.

Recently I and some friends headed to Richmondville (a town that really captures the beauty and spirit of what upstate NY is all about) to attend the 30th Anniversary of the Broken Spoke Saloon.

The event had a mixture of locals and bikers who all came together to enjoy comradery, some brews and to celebrate the bar they love.

Since the passing of Willie, the founder, on 4/7/2023 , the bar has had some rough times, but the family is fighting to keep the saloon up and running at the standard it has become known for. The place is special and loved by so many; the staff and owners welcome everyone in with a smile.

As I did my thing at the 30th Anniversary Celebration, "Cheers to 30 Years," I ran into some old friends and met many new ones. I got to hear many stories of the past 30 years and laughed as one of the regulars from the start of the saloon's history told me proudly how he had been escorted out of the bar more than once by Willie himself back in his "younger days" but was always welcomed back in.

The Broken Spoke Saloon over 30 years has become very well known and is one of those places bikers from near and far stop at when out riding. Sometimes it is the end spot for a ride and sometimes just a stop along the run.

I was on a run with some Brothers the first time I went to the Broken Spoke Saloon. I loved the place right away, as it just has that biker-friendly vibe. I have been back many times since.

This summer I am teaming up with Vanessa, Tyler and the Broken Spoke Saloon and will be doing a Bike Night series there on the first Thursday of June, July, and August 2025. I will be DJing the music, and there will be trophies, vendors (Free Vendor Spots Available), raffles, and lots of Biker Brotherhood.

We hope to see you all there this summer for the Bike Night series, or just stop by anytime for some fun.

    Till then,
I am Your Bro LJ James!
