I prefer the Prius for two up; But, my wife likes the buzz of riding on the back, so every-now-and-then, I take her for a ride if the weather is just perfect.

Been, like, 45 years since riding 2-up further than around the block.
Wife does not ride - not motorcycles, bicycles, horses – nuthin’
Riding alone seems a small price to pay for having a good wife so no complaints but yeh, would be great to feel arms wrapped around me for 100 miles.

Tweek, it's understandable to be very wary of riding with someone who drinks. Should be wary of anyone you ride with, for that matter, and trust is so essential. As for no longer feeling the "need" to ride two-up, I think it's all about who, what, when and why...

It depends! If I am bar hopping I prefer to go it alone.

My bike has a solo seat and nobody rides on the fender.  My road partner has her own bike with a solo seat as well.  We ride solo together when she isn't working.  Otherwise, I am by myself.  We only ride with other company if we feel comfortable with the ride and the mentality of the other riders.
